What attracted you to the industry?

While my personal story doesn’t include cancer, I do understand the confusion and worry that negative medical diagnoses can have on patients and their families. My mother, after having several heart attacks, had to have a heart transplant in order to save her life. I remember speaking with specialists and doctors who were trying their best to tell me what was happening and what needed to occur but I didn’t understand and felt very much powerless and in the dark.

When I found out that RGCC’s goal is to provide personalized and empathetic care for doctors and patients alike, I immediately knew this was a company I needed to be a part of. At the end of the day, I want to ensure that anyone working with RGCC wil feel comfortable, empowered, and are able to get all their questions answered in a professional, yet personable and caring manner.

Clinical Support
Founder

Dr. Ioannis Papasotiriou, MD, PhD, SCym

In 2004, genetics pioneer Dr. Ioannis Papasotiriou founded RGCC with a steadfast commitment to personalized cancer care. Driven by his unwavering belief in the power of a patient's genes, Dr. Papasotiriou has passionately refused to access external funding that could compromise his vision and commitment to a science-driven cancer solution.

His dedication and expertise have enabled RGCC to stand at the forefront of cancer treatment, providing hope and healing to patients and their families around the world.

“If you bring in investors, they want profitability - as quickly as possible - they don’t care about the outcome.

For us, our interest is what we could do better than the protocols available in the clinical practice, so we can create better treatments, no matter whether we use current drugs or develop new treatments.

We reinvest 85% of our income directly into further research which we wouldn’t be able to do if we brought in external investors.”

How long have you been working in your field?

I have been working as a holistic integrative nutritional oncology consultant since 2012 (10+ years).  I am also a clinical instructor for the Gerson Institute since 2012.  From 2001 to 2013, I was working in the field of orthopedic chiropractic and orthopedic physical therapy, and from 1991 to 2001 in the field of orthopedic physical therapy (without chiropractic).  From 1987 to 1992, I worked as a clinical laboratory technologist in a community hospital laboratory.

What made you choose this field?

Holistic integrative nutritional oncology is the field I gravitated to because it addresses the entire person’s oncology care.  I have always been a natural holistic health advocate.  Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the US and the challenge in bringing a person from a diseased state to a healthy state led me to this field.  Chiropractic consists of both structural body health and nutritional/mental health.  I felt more mentally challenged and found it very rewarding as I focused more of my work in nutritional/mental health.  So it naturally progressed and I ended up enjoying my work in oncology care.  In early 2018, I learned about RGCC testing and came onboard to become a RGCC practitioner.  Since then I have done several thousand testing for my clients.

What do you love about what you do?

Being both a clinician and instructor (for both RGCC International and Gerson Institute), I love how the latest science in molecular oncology, traditional oncology, holistic nutritional oncology all blend together to encompass a comprehensive oncology service that goes beyond traditional ideology.

What do you wish you could tell every client and why?

Each person’s cancer condition is as unique as a fingerprint.  So, each person should receive a unique, personalized cancer care.

Fun fact about you?

I am health enthusiast.

What do you enjoy doing when not at work?

Running, weight lifting, nature hikes, traveling, reading about technology breakthroughs and the latest computer science.

Where are you from originally?

I was born in a small town, Cagayan de oro, Philippines, but spent most of my growing up years in Singapore before going abroad to the US to start my college education in 1982.

What city do you live in?

I live in Tennessee. Married. We have a daughter who is a university student.

What brought you to your current area?

It is a central hub where we are close to both sides of our family.

Do you have pets?

A large hypoallergenic Siberian house cat named Aza

Operations

Dr. Lauren Cohen, DC

After 25 years spearheading a unique healing practice specializing in Chiropractic, Functional Medicine, and Emotional Healing, Dr. Lauren Cohen, DC shifted her knowledge and gifts into Cancer Patient Advocacy following the stage 4 cancer diagnosis of both her mother and sister.

Recognizing the complexity of navigating the cancer world, Dr. Lauren became the “Doctor in the family” for those who didn’t have one. She helped them translate the “doctor” speak and understand the myriad of treatment options so they could make better choices and select the healing path that was best suited for them.

Her unique combination as a physician, caregiver, and patient advocate makes her the perfect fit to lead RGCC International’s new US-based branch office RGCC North America. She is focused on bringing a culture of personalization and partnership to a world of cancer care that Is often cold and disconnected.

Dr. Lauren is on a mission to change the cancer care paradigm, replacing fear and uncertainty with hope and possibility.

Learn More About Dr. Lauren Cohen

How long have you been working in your field?

23 years Chiropractic, Functional Endocrinology, and Emotional Healing + 2 years with RGCC

What made you choose this field?

After 20+ years in clinical practice, I made the shift to a coaching model focusing on Personal Empowerment. Then both my mother and sister were diagnosed with stage 4 cancers and I was thrown into the cancer world.

None of my background and training was in cancer care. I needed to learn so I got my Google PhD like every other cancer patient and caregiver. Then people started to reach out to me for guidance. Navigating the cancer world is challenging and overwhelming, even for me with the healthcare background I have.

I couldn’t understand how patients were doing this without someone like me. So I became the “Doctor in the family” for those that didn’t have one. That is how my cancer patient advocacy journey began. I wasn’t their treating doctor, I just helped them sort through the information and translated the “doctor speak” so they could better understand their options to make better care decisions for themselves.

In my own research, I found RGCC and had the testing done for my family. I reached out as an advocate to learn more about how to refer patients to them and ended up working for RGCC instead.

What do you love about what you do?

Being in service is not something I do, it is part of who I am. Being part of a greater vision and mission, being part of something bigger than myself that can change the cancer care paradigm and ultimately the lives of millions of people is both humbling and inspiring.

Being able to bring my experience as both a clinician and patient advocate to this position, allows me to help improve the system so the physicians are better able to bring cutting edge science to their patients to achieve better outcomes, and open access to patients to receive truly personalized care.

What do you wish you could tell every client and why?

You are not alone. We are here and we hear you, and we are here to help.

Fun fact about you?

Guessing my age is always fun at parties. I’m older than I look. Lol!

Where are you from originally?

Born and raised in NY, but I don’t have an accent.

What brought you to your current area?

I recently moved to Delray Beach, FL to be closer to family and support my parents who are getting older and needing some assistance.

Do you have pets?

Not currently but I have always had dogs and may be adopting a senior dog when friends retire to Equador. Copper is 13 and too frail to make the trip. I want to make sure he lives out his final days in comfort and with love.

Seeing those you love most in life battle such an awful disease makes you want to get involved - in any way possible. When the opportunity to join the team at RGCC presented itself, it was a no-brainer for me.

I was in construction for 13 years prior and after losing someone very close to me due to cancer and seeing them in their cancer journey along with so many others we meet along the way I could not accept that the only option for people was what we were told was the “gold standard”. My focus really shifted and I had became enthralled with a different approach to healing and soaking in all the information I could with the hopes of being able to pass my knowledge along to others for them to be better informed for their own health needs. When I came across the opportunity to work for RGCC I could not pass it up. It felt like everything I had been doing to gain knowledge eventually lead me to them. What they offer is incredible and something that really can make a difference in someone’s life. To be apart of that is truly a blessing.
